A tricky area this! The email addresses collected for all entries can be used to send emails about that specific event – there is a “contract” between you and the entrant and so the event specific emails are not classed as marketing. On the entry form you are asking if the entrant would like to receive marketing emails from you. You can extract those email addresses from Race Admin (see below) and use them to send emails about future events. You should do this using a mailing list management system such as Mailchimp as you do need to provide a way for people to unsubscribe from future emails.
To extract the email addresses of those who have opted in (need to do this event-by-event):
- Manage the entries >> Standard Export
- Hit the Filter button and filter on “Mailing list opt-in” = “Yes”
- Hit the Export to Excel button
- Copy the email addresses from the spreadsheet into your mailing list management system (or the Bcc field for a one-off email).
We ask that you don’t use the Race Admin Bulk Email function to send marketing emails.
